Corporation of people's situations – COPS

Using a language of form characterised by the provisional, functionality and future promise, the Corporation of people’s situations (COPS) has installed a spatial situation at the Kunstverein Harburger Bahnhof comprising materials and elements taken from construction sites, as well as equipment and components from the world of sport and leisure activities. Scaffolding, sheets of foil, belts and mats are deployed and adapted for different use in gymnastic exercises, as meeting places and as infrastructure for an open archive. In the sense of a mobile, modular multipurpose toolbox, which can be shifted around and reconfigured into various different parkours, the installation becomes the framework and starting point for several COPS-initiated situations.

A guest production by Ursina Tossi

Political activism was and is bodily: The resistant body in movement remembers its potentials. With "Resisting Bodies" Ursina Tossi presents the body through dance as a space, where political agency and "resistance" have their beginning and where the action of the one and the many are being put on trial.

RUTH BUCHANAN
Or, a camera Or, a building Or, a screen

Ruth Buchanan explores in performances, installations, sculptures, publications and films – which often include language as material – the conditions under which the processing of cultural production takes place, questioning the implicit agreements of the handling, organization, and presentation of such material and its respective formats. Or, a camera Or, a building Or, a screen focuses on the auditory and is made up of three sound works and an appendix combined with graphic, sculptural, and performative elements. Buchanan's linguistic operations are condensed text-based variations of the previously presented constituent parts of this cycle of work: a performance, an exhibition, and a film.

KERSTIN CMELKA
All Change

Kerstin Cmelka's interest in the format of "microdramas" provides the focus in her exhibition at the Kunstverein Harburger Bahnhof. The short dramatic texts of frequently performed plays – considering their distribution – have gained the popularity of a folk play. Arranged in an installation of video projections, the plays physically direct the viewer through the exhibition space.

Valentine

For the joint exhibition at the Kunstverein Harburger Bahnhof, Kilian Rüthemann chose Manuel Scheiwiller to be his counterpart. Both approaches from the artists are in opposition to each other: For the trained dancer Schweiwiller physicality equates to material and media. His performances become sculptural, finally culminating into still life.
