Slow Reading Club
Titanic Titanic Titanic
a collective reading session by Henry Andersen & Bryana Fritz (EN)

For the 20th anniversary of Kunstverein Harburger Bahnhof, Slow Reading Club presents a collective-reading-session-as-coming-of-age-tale; imbibing both the Kunstverein's and the young century's move from teenagedom into the vagaries of their early twenties. Over three hours, SRC will architect a space to ease the collective body into reading—late night, long duration, alcohol, honey-yellow lighting, a tea that makes the mouth go numb—offering up a booklet of gathered texts and a set of choreographies to draw the pubescent out the public.

Slow Reading Club (Henry Andersen and Bryana Fritz) premiered at kunstenfestivaldesarts 2017, in Brussels as part of an evening titled Before the Codes. Since then they have presented work in a number of performance, art, and discursive contexts including MAK Centre for Art and Architecture, Los Angeles, ZKM - Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie, Karlsruhe; La Loge, Brussels; Bergen Kunsthal, Bergen; Bâtard Festival 2017 (Beursschouwburg, Brussels & Veem House for Performance, Amsterdam); Louise Dany, Oslo; Showroom MAMA, Rotterdam; Tin Flats, Los Angeles; ESBA TALM, Angers; CalArts, California, LTD Academy, Zurich; and as part of the Montez Press Radio program in MoMA Ps1, New York. Their practice has been the subject of essays published in Etcetera and L’Art Meme. Slow Reading Club will present their first solo exhibition Sweetttooth Sattturate in January 2020 at Damien and the Love Guru, Brussels. They split their time between Brussels and its various elsewhere.
