MITKO MITKOV
Recordings from the ABYSSAL

Accompanying the series „Aufzeichnungen aus dem Abyssal“ (Recordings from the ABYSSAL)
16.05 – 14.06.20 / ABYSSAL at the Kunstverein Harburger Bahnhof

With contributions by Sevda Semer, Marius Goldhorn & Tanita Olbrich, Nino Svireli, Rui Campos & Oswald Vera.

The BAD BOY JESUS CITY SWIMMERS CLUB is a siteless joining. The Kunstverein's bar, which should have been used as the headquarter for one year from March 2020, got lost immediately, when it had to be closed down, then was allowed to reopen - but not for events and gatherings. The allusion to the bottomless depth of the ocean within the name of the club turned out to be even more tellingly than expected.

The How of keeping afloat was a junction of real space and digital production of proximity, which in the first place only shaped the own way of working and then rose to shape the whole project: "Recordings from the ABYSSAL" came into being as an audio program with sounds and words from diverse times and differing spaces and was broadcasted within the regular opening hours at the Kunstverein as well as on the website.
