Elisa Barrera (*1989, lives in Hamburg) designed a small edition of bags for the Kunstverein which, contrary to omnipresent merchandise and branding with handmade metal elements, become a personal image and object. Her Jahresgabe edition references a Givenchy bag, whose design was based on an appropriation of Walt Disney's character Bambi. Barrera's handmade drawing on her bag edition (tote bag) retransfers the print into its original state as a drawing. Barrera's painterly, installative and sculptural works always revolve around the intimate and the personal, which is conveyed equally through stereotypical representations of feelings and subjectivity. The delicacy and precision with which she works condenses these needs in the material.
